TV/Motion picture programmer here--our workflow is primarily structured as a series of one-off setups which we rarely repeat. At the same time, we are sometimes asked to instantly pull up something from the past without any warning or foreknowledge, and if there are reshoots we need to be able to recreate a look that might have been shot six months ago or longer. My approach is to record and keep as much as I can, including effects and submasters and other record targets that may have been used only once, sometimes in multiple variations. That can make for a lot of record targets created over the course of a 10-month TV season.
To that end, I frequently end up putting a lot of descriptive info in labels, which can make the label awkward for display on direct selects and magic sheet objects.
It would be useful if we could add notes to things besides cues to hold extra information which doesn't need to be displayed all the time.
