Combine patch and cues from two different saves

Dear community,

My problem is as follows: I have a saved show with a softpatch. Months later the show is rebuild. But we will have to make a new softpatch, because some things are changed. When I first make the softpatch on the ION and then try to open the showfile (cues-only) the new patch is lost anyway. When I first load the showfile and then redo the patch a number of cues is corrupted. I guess the reason for this is that on opening some channels don't see any dmxnumbers so refuse to load. I browsed the forum but couldn't find solutions. Please tell me what I do wrong.

Thanks, greetings Peter

  • Hi Peter

This is a little unclear at the moment and is going to change at some point.

All you need to do is import your patch and not open it. At the moment when you Open cue's it clears everything else.

So hopefully if you open your old show file ( you can deselect patch if you want) and after that has loaded just Import (Eos/Ion file) your new soft patch.

Hope this help and everyone goes through this the first time.

  • Peter,

I will agree that in this situation you should be using the inport function on the desk and not the open function. When you perform an import you can select the things that you want to inport, such as just cues and groups. Inport is located in the Browswer. Under File.

    Good luck.

  • A bit of info here.   Import is currently used to open all data from a non-native .esf showfile. It is also used for a "show merge" function for .esf files.   When you use "Open", you are always going to start with a show file consisting only of the data you've chosen to open.  All other data is removed.     (As a data point, with non-native files, you have no partial read options... nor will you ever!)

The plan, to be implemented shortly is:

Import - used for non-native file formats only.  Must open the entire file.

Merge - pull new data into the existing show, leave untouched record targets intact.

Open  - start a file, but only with the data specified included.

Hopefully, that will bring more clarity to the operation.
