What is a Foundation Motor?

Foundation Motor is an option in the Magic sheet items. What is it? 
 The only thing in the manual says (p.409): "Adds a Foundation Motor item to sync with an actual Foundation."

foundation is part of the ETC Rigging family. this controller can send the position of the motor through OSC to the console so you can see the height of a flybar. this is only to read a level, not to send it.
