copy to or recall from - devices in a preset

hi guys,

in an existing preset with a couple of lamps i would like to you use the function "copy to" or "recall from" to get the parameters from one device to an other but it didn`t work.
Using these functions without a preset (manual parameters) is working. If i`m using the soft key "make absolute" to the parameters from the preset i can copy them. So i`m not sure; is this a bug (using eos v. 2.9) or am i not allowed to use "copy to" and "recall from" to devices which are playing in presets?

greetings,

thope

  • I'm not sure what you're doing here.

If you're in Live, you would not be recalling or copying data, you would be Live. So channel (1) [Preset] (1)  [Enter] gives channel 1 all of the pertinent data stored in Preset 1.

If you're in Blind. Cue, Submaster, Preset or other.... You can, from your Cue; channel (1) [Recall from] [Preset] (1) [Enter] and the Cue will now possess all of the data in channel 1 from Preset 1.

  • Thank`s for your answer. So I`m using this functions and I know how to use this in blind. I like using recall from or copy to in live mode, too.

    So in summary:

Copy datas from a chanel in a preset to a chanel which is not in the same preset is possible.
I don`t understand why it`s not possible to copy datas from a chanel whitch is in a preset to another chanel in the same preset.

  • For completeness the reason it doesn't work for you is the copy does a literal copy so

if channel is CP1 then chan1 copy to chan2 sets chan2 to CP1.   If you then put something in CP1 for chan2 (or it was a by type CP)  it would come out on the channel.

If you do chan1 copy to chan2 {Make Absolute}  then it copies the actual values from 1 to 2 rather than the reference to the palette.
