Question about Ion Xe Colored Keys

Hello!

My school has an Ion Xe light board and I have been familiarized with it for quite a few months now. I have one question that bugs me a lot about the machine.

When I startup the light board (from a complete shutdown) I see this: https://youtu.be/jAGT0cAl-QQ.

As you can see, the white keys can turn different colors. I am wondering if it is possible to make these keys different colors (e.g. Go to Cue 0 button be red) in actual use? Or did ETC literally just put colored keys in there for no reason?

Thanks,

Anand

  • Hey Anand!

While those particular keys do have Red and Green emitters, there is not a way to customize the colors of those keys.

The keys will occasionally change colors to indicate specific functions.

For example, the [Timing Disable] button, used with [Load], causes timing data to be ignored for any cues that are activated on the associated playback fader. When a playback fader is in timing disable mode, you will notice “TD” in the associated fader display, and the [Timing Disable] button will be red.
