Ion v1 (Win7) EOS v2.9.1 "Go" lag

Our high school has an Ion 6k (v1 Win7) running eos v2.9.1 with an attached 2x20 universal fader wing.  During a show, I got an emergency call from the student running that board saying that suddenly there was a 1-2 second lag advancing through cues with the Go button (cues with 0 time took 1-2 seconds after hitting Go before executing).  The same show file had been used the previous two nights without issue.  Unplugging the fader wing had no effect. He reported other functions (magic sheet use, fader movements, etc) also felt sluggish/lagged.  His impression was like a 'pc running very slow'.  He also reported the LCD showed anomalous characters and had never before seen error messages (similar to windows reporting a problem with a task.)   Due to it being during the heat of a show, he did not capture the details of the display issues.

I went in the day after the issue (and after restarting), and the board operated normally.  We used the diagnostic tools in the shell and tested everything we could, and nothing was flagged as a problem.  We also did a deep clear.

We have 6 more shows coming up and needless to say, we are now a bit nervous as we were not able to reproduce the issue or know if any of our actions corrected the problem.  I've read of similar issues, but only with much older firmware.  Has anyone seen this problem with v2.9?  Should we downgrade to 2.8?  The student has been instructed to take pics of any errors with his phone should they recur.  Is there anything else we can do to troubleshoot the problem?

Thanks!

  • I got on an ION similar same problem.
Empty PSD (only one cue in PSD,  this sets all Channels in Show at 1%).
I can press GO as normal, all works normal.
But if i then press STOP/BACK the Cue never endes.
It looks like the Cue is locked, i can`t press GO or STOP/BACK for solve this.
If i during this situation press for example MACRO 1 (this sets some Channels at defined values) the Macro start, all Channels jumps at value but then they go down to out (they are not in Cue 1).

On a GIO i get the problem also.
But at this desk i have a Show with several Cues and Midi.
At GIO i can solve it with switch off and on the Midi.

That ever happen if the PSD is at first Cue in Cuelist and then  press STOP/BACK.
Setting for STOP/BACK at begin of Cuelist is turnaround.
