Hi Sabine,

That sounds like a problem we had a while ago, I believe it was fixed in software so I hope it's not back!  The Display Ports were grabbing the sound card.  If you could please, to check on this...disconnect all external monitors, reboot, and see if sound is back.

I have connected the same problem with a new ION Xe 20 console with the last 2.9 version and two monitors without adaptor direct on the Displayports. Thanks for this tip!

That's not good!  Just to clarify, did you boot with 2 monitors plugged in with Display Port cables, or no monitors plugged in?  I know it's difficult to do the test on an Ion because it doesn't have screens, but if it's the same problem as before, any Display Port plugged in might cause it.  If Sabine answers that sound is OK with no monitors, we'll assume the same for you, I would say.

today I could test this. Also without connected monitor no sound is to be heard.
[True][True] produces a syntaxerror and would have to give a sound. Then the key [Clean] is red, in any case. Do you still have an idea or a tip?

Hi Maik,

First off, I think your method is perfect, you're correct, you should have gotten error sounds.  This may be a different cause from Sabine's.  I might look more towards hardware problems.  I would recommend contacting a local representative, though I know that's difficult these days.  I'll continue to research for other ideas, though.

Sorry, correction!

I'll admit, I never have sound on because I like my mistakes to be quiet!  So, I didn't actually realize this, but Xe doesn't have an internal speaker, you have to connect an external speaker to get sound.
