I am running a color blaze 48 on the ion and can only control the unit as a whole and can not figure out the segmented control of the device. After patching it, how do you tell the console that you want part control.
thanks R

I have not had the best of luck working with Blazes patched as whole fixtures. I have just patched as many generic RGB fixtures (or Blazes in Mode 1) as you have set your Blazes to. You end up with one channel per each "segment" of the fixture you have designated.
Hope this helps.
This style of 'Multi-cell' fixture is much better controlled by patching it as several channels, with one channel for each RGB (or RGBA/RGBW etc) cell.
(And sometimes an extra channel for any 'global' attributes it may have)
This is also the way media servers are generally controlled - one desk channel for 'global' attributes, plus a desk channel for each 'layer' or 'object' the media server supports/has enabled.
While the whole thing could be patched as one channel, this means that instead of having a set of easy-to understand Channels with RGB attributes, you end up with one Channel that has R, G, B, R2, G2, B2, R3, G3, B3 etc attributes. Obviously this leads to a rather long list of attribute pages, and doesn't work well with the colour picker or effects.
