Intensity Color in Live display

If you're ever trying to figure out "who" owns a specific channel in both Eos/Ion select that channel and hit the [About] button. Under the Current Values tab you should see how that channel is being controlled...whether it is by manual control, cue or sub.

A couple of more things here.  When you load a new show file, we maintain the current output of the playbacks.   That way, you can load a new show file while you are currently running cues with no obvious interruption to the rig.

So, you are saying the first time you tried a deep clear from the maintenance tab in the shell it didn't work?  Hmmm.  Or did you clear the show from the browser?  A little more info would be handy!!

When you say "there was no other indication for those channels in live"--- can you explain that?  Other than the graphic, which helps you figure out what kind of device you are controlling, you will generally not see anything other than the level (lets' stick with intensities here for the moment), unless you have a condition on that channel, like a mark, discrete timing, park, etc.

This is where the command [Sub] [1] [Thru] [Home] [Enter] comes in handy.  When we are at trade shows, I always walk up to an Eos/Ion to do a demo and the last group had left a bunch of stuff in the playback.  Although I could open about and look at the channels to see what is controlling it, and then find that submaster and bring it down (or up if an inhib).... its way faster just to home them all.

On a final note... there is a section on displays at the front of the manual that tells you what all of the colors and symbols mean in the Playback status and channel displays.  That might be helpful to find and review!!

The first time I tried a deep clear (after exiting Ion from the browser and then selecting the maintenance tab, etc) , I got a message box that said (words to this effect anyway) "Unable to perform a deep clear, reboot the console and try again."  I rebooted, went directly to maintenance before the console started Ion,  and tried deep clear again and it worked.  Then the channels were back to normal.

By no other indications, I mean there was no indication of Park, Capture, Mark, etc.  The only thing in the display for that channel was the channel number and the intensity.

I didn't try the Sub [1] [Thru] [Home] command.  I did not have the 2 affected channels defined to a Sub - at least not that I am aware of.  All the submasters were at 0%.

I have a copy of the manual at the desk and it does not descibe the color yellow for the intensity display.  I am not at the console now but I'm pretty sure the book matches the software release.  I just checked my online PDF of Ion Operations Manual v1.4 Rev B and there  is no mention of the color yellow for the heading 'Color indicators' under the section titled Graphical User Interface (GUI) Display Conventions (it's on page 34).  In fact a search of the document only finds 2 instances of the word yellow, one in the color picker section and one in the monitor setup description.

It it possible for you to extract and send the log file to eos@etcconnect.com.  Just mention the inability to deep clear the system.

Is it at all possible that you had brought a sub up from the command line?  You can do that even if the sub isn't loaded.  Just asking.  :-)  If not, please keep an eye on this and let us know if you see it again.

I must admit I didn't check the manual.. as I was sure there MUST have been an indication of sub contribution colors somewhere there.  Have forwarded to the tech writer for revisions if needed.

Dale, you're absolutely right. I'm not seeing a reference to the color convention yellow in the Ion manual.

I'm working on a revision to the manual for the 1.5.0 software release, and will add that info.

In playing with the subs, I noticed that the intensity value only is really yellow when the intensity is Full, otherwise the color is either a very pale yellow or dull white - I can't decide which!

Yes.  When a command is issued, and the value is "referenced" but the value is not yet reached, we show a paler version of the final color.  So, if you are fading a sub, the value is in pale yellow until the sub reaches full.

Well, duhhh!  I've been using the Ion for a year now and never noticed that before.
