Sub stops absolute FX

I have an absolute effect running with 2 parts, a CP and a BKGRND value. However when I bring up a sub with a CP in it, the effect stops, what am I missing?

question: how is the effect running? is it still a Manual selection (not played back from a cue/sub?) if so, the CP Sub could be overriding the manual state of the effect.

Is there anyway to leave it running manual and not have the sub override the state?
