Is it possible for me to make a submaster that changes the lights to a certain color and when I bring the sub back down it returns the lights to the color they were on before I brought up the sub?

yes, if the previous color came from a playback, i.e. wasn't manual. manual values go away when overridden by a playback (e.g. a sub), they can't be background values.
So if the previous value was a color pallet it wouldn't work?
if the color palette was stored (on a fader, in a cue, in a sub) then yes it would work. if it was manual, then no it wouldn't work.
look at the font color of the color palette before you bring up the sub. is the text red? then it's manual and lost as soon as you move the sub.
You could probably cheat using an effect as when they are removed it does go back to what it was before even if a manual value (and an effect can refer to a manual background as well if needed). So you could probably create an effect that was just the colour you wanted and put that on the fader.
Thank you!!!
