Fixture Profile Name Issues

"a new profile was made" meaning you (or your organisation) rather than ETC made this? and you made it by renaming the Generic LED RGB 8bit fixture profile? In that case no, you can't get rid of the bracketed original name.

if you copy the original profile first before renaming and then rename the copy you will get the "clean" name.

the asterisk tells you that this is not the original fixture personality anymore (you could have changed a parameter name, changed its range, added a parameter or renamed the original personality. this all will trigger the asterisk.
