Shutter Strobe?

I built two profiles for a couple of MLs. When I put up the intensity both go into a strobe mode according to what I see in Augment3d.

Operating the control in the ML panel only changes the rate of the strobe but even though both lamps have no strobe at zero this doesn't work.

So I made copies of the profiles deleted the Shutter Strobe parameter and replaced it with a simple User1 (in both case)

This stopped the unwanted strobing though my User1 would not allow strobing! I've seen elsewhere that parameters like Shutter Strobe may do 'other things' whatever that means.

I ran both in a simple QLCPlus  + ENTEC Usb/DMX dongle at home and changed the Shutter channels manually. They behaved as they should. I.E at 0 there was no strobe but from 1 - 255 there was a strobe and its rate changed.

  • The profiles I had trouble with were 'home made' so I'm not sure you would see this strobe affect. And if it is in Augnment3d this may not be the case on stage. I'm waiting to see more on this so fixed my own problem by deleting the shutter probe. Not planning to strobe these lights anyway. But ueliriegg thought the problem comes about if a DMX address is doing intensity and strobe. In my case though this wasn't the case. Intensity is a separate address entirely devoted to it. The Strobe channel I had a problem with did have sections that turned the light on and off in between strobe areas like slow on, fast off and fast on slow off that may have contributed to the problem. I 'm sure with the number of people looking at Augment3d  and using a lot more fixtures then we will see in a lifetime ETC will sort this out. Couple of hours under my belt at home and today felt good enough to update our Element 2 in the theater.
