unload a cue list

Newbie to lighting and consoles, is there a way to unload a cue list in ION XE so the command line will just say LIVE but have no cue list showing?

  • Just confirming: you currently have existing cues in a cue list, and you want to keep them, and you want the command line to only say "LIVE:", is this correct? Just confirming because if you don't have any cues, it will only say "LIVE:" without the cue # context. So I'm assuming that is not what your situation is.

If my assumption is correct, then yes: if you have a single cue list that has 1 or more cues, the command line will say "LIVE: Cue #:" for context of where you are in Live and in Blind. So...

If you have an existing cue list but want the command line to not give this context of a cue #, you can make another cue list that is a dummy cue list without any cues, and then put your command line in context of that empty list.

So if your existing list is cue list 1, make a new cue list: list 2. (There are multiple ways to do this, let us know if you need help). Once you have a list 2, with no cues in it, you can type in Live [Cue 2 / Enter] and your PSD will display (by default) the empty cue list 2, and your command line will only say "LIVE:". There are ways to get around what list your PSD displays.

On another front, I'm curious to know what is driving this question, if you could shed some light. Is it a busking show with a very specific context? Is it a small monitor so the size of the command line is limited? I hope this helps you out and gets you what you wanted.

  • the ION XE is used for church productions where some people like using cues and others like to busk.  Those who like to busk do not like seeing the cue list on the command line.  The want to make sure they are not effecting the cue list in any way.

  • Cool. Yep, so you can set up some macros doing what I said above that will switch to viewing the empty cue list for the buskers, and one that restores to viewing the populated cue list for those that use it. Those macros and the blank cue list can just be built into your default showfile.

The only trick will be to train all of the operators to run the macro Slight smile Otherwise, it might be freaky for the ones who rely on the cue list to come in and see an empty PSD!

  • Thank you for answering the question, just wanted to ask about adding a cue list with no cues.  What I did was <record> <cue> 10/1 and then deleted cue 1.  Is there another more efficient way to do this?

  • That's a perfectly valid way! Slightly more efficient would be [BLIND] [Cue] [10] [/] [Enter] [LIVE] since you don't have to delete afterwards.

Also keep in mind the Cue List Index screen [Tab 16] that can help to manage all of your cue lists at a glance. You can also create or delete lists there.

    Glad to have helped!
