ETC Ion To Mac Via Local Network.

are you using campus network in between the console and your mac? it sounds like the network doesn't like the format or traffic caused by the lighting console output and "protects" your mac.

It goes from Console into a router than into the mac. It is not linked to the school network. 

Is there a setting I can change to make it like the format? The old teacher did it so I know it is possible. 

ah, so it's the router. if you have an unmanaged switch to replace the router that would probably be the simplest solution. otherwise you will have to dive into the config of the router (if my diagnosis is correct). how to do that depends from router to router.

Stupid question time... The switch is indeed unmanaged. What should I look for in the replacement?

are you saying that the device you're currently using is an unmanaged switch?

the router I have the two connected to says that it is unmanaged on the bottom.
