scrollers

I am trying to set up color pallets for my scrollers and they are not hitting their colors properly.  I built all of the scrolls in patch, and two of my scrollers are hitting right on their colors.  the others are all off to some degree.  So I went ahead and tweeked each one manually and then re-recorded the pallets.   I did this about a month ago, and have recently done a load in and my color scrollers are all off again. Most are almost a full half frame off.  And when I imported the color pallets from my last show that didn't fix the problem.  I was wondering if anyone had encountered this problem.  All of my scrollers were labeled as generic scrollers, and all of my strings were custome built strings.  I only built a few strings and then just copied them to all of the different scrollers.    But only some of them(the scrollers) hit their colors right.  The scrollers are all from the same manufacterer.  And it is always the same four that seem to be hitting full frame.  I've checked my dmx and the signal is clean and all my settings are the same.  They are even all patched into the same channel.  I can understand that strings get old and tension springs wear out, but everytime  I hang these scrollers I have to go through and tweek them.  Any ideas why the board isn't holding the info from the previouse show.

  • HI,

It sounds to me like your scrollers are drifting- not the board.  I assume that the gel strings were built by a manufacturer so they would be indentical in frame size and length.  Also, they may not be drifting, but just have a different tension.

If you have a well working scroller in channel 1, and an odd one in channel 2,  then you tweak channel 2 to match, remember that you haven't changed the scroller- just the channel.  In the next show, if you switch the scrollers and use the same channel/pallette info, neither channel will work right.

I would first go through and perform general maintenance on all the scrollers.  I might undo each string and reattach them to ensure consistent tension.

If that doesn't get them all working the same, them you'll have to recalibrate and/or rerecord pallettes each show.  That is unless you are capable of putting the exact same scroller in the same channels each time.

    Good luck, B

  • Also this sounds like it could be a head feet issue. Just a sugestion.
