Writting Cue List off cite

Hi everyone,

Don't know if this is the right place for my problem:

I will do the lighting for a drama group at a festival. I can reconstruct the cue list from a dvd from an earlier performance of the play, but I don't know the exact lighting rig of the location. I do know that I will work on an etc ion.

Now my question: Is it possible to write a cue list, where each cue refers to a preset, which is written after the cue list is written?

If this was the case, I could write my cue list at home. At the festival I would just have to set the lighting for the presets I use. This would be nice because we have little time for setup.

If possible, how is it done?

Thanks for your answers!

  • Cedric,

This is is not so much an ION question as a question for the technical director and/or LD of the venue you will be performing in.

However if you know that the show has 50 cues but those cues only reference 10 looks you can save allot of time by determining this now and having it written out.

Once you are at the theater you can record the 10 looks as presets and then quickly apply them to any cue as necessary.

    I hope this helps!

  • Hi Cedric

I'd suggest creating your presets first, and then write your cuelists.  The reason for this - you can't tell a channel to be a preset that is not recorded or that the channel isn't in.

Make some rough presets, then write your cue list.  once at the venue, it is then just a quick process of updating the presets.

    Cheers
