CK Color Blasts/ Color Blazes

There should be a phantom intensity channel automatically assigned for these devices when you patch them.  ??

Are you talking about fading from one color to another, or fading to zero?

I'm actually in the same boat with the color kinetics.  We don't do many color changes, but on a long fade in or out, you'll see each step individually.  Perhaps along the same line; about 40% of the time the fade time for the conventionals looks as though it has a 'fast top' profile applied (it does not).  A guest designer mentioned that the network might not be delivering all the packets of information or something like that.  Any thoughts?

In my limited interaction with the CK stuff, I have found that they are steppy like that on the long fade outs.  It has to do with their control electronics and how they do the dimming - not the control console.

But again - i have only had limited interaction with those fixtures so I don't know if it applies to all of their stuff or just the stuff I was using at the time.

I have some Microh LED PARs - they are RGB + intensity.  As the intensity setting decreases on  a long fade they are steppy too.  It is more apparent as the intensity gets low.  I think it is a characteristic of LEDs responding to discrete changes in input voltage.  This is in contrast to an incandescent bulb which has a (relatively) long response to decreasing voltage due to the thermal cooling of a filament.

This being said, there are LED fixtures out there that compensate for this.  Both Pixelrange and Selador do this pretty well.  They have dimming curves that are nearly indistingusable from incandesent fixtures.
