GLP Impression X4 Profile: Can adjust PWM Frequency

Hi,

In the GLP Impression X4 and X4-S fixture profiles, I can’t adjust the PWM frequency.

According to the manual, the fixture has a parameter called “Special” that allows you to select the pixel control libraries (aka “Pattern Blocks”), adjust PWM Frequency, or reset the motors. In the Eos profile, this parameter is called “Mode.” Setting the DMX value on this parameter to 100-200 adjusts the frequency.

In the Eos profile, there is a mode on the “Mode” parameter called PWM frequency, but when I select that and move the encoder, it doesn’t affect the “Mode” channel, it changes the Effect Macro parameter instead.

This is an issue in all versions of the X4 and X4-S profiles, the Normal, Hi Res, and Compressed modes.

Thanks a lot.

Ethan

  • Hey Matt, just wanted to follow up on this issue.  Has any progress been made to repair these profiles?  I'm working with both of these fixture models in various modes across different shows, so I need new profiles for all 3 modes.  Thanks.

  • Hi, sorry this has hung out for a very long time.  Another user contacted us about this issue as well, and we found that the user manual I referenced earlier may not match the behavior of the fixture in its current firmware.  I encourage you to double-check your firmware version and confirm with GLP if there are new instructions for controlling the PWM channel.

With that being said, I found that in v3.1.0 I could edit the profile and click "Remove as Mode" on the "Mode" parameter.  Then I could change the value of Mode (sitting in the Form category) to set various values.

I also changed the User Values of the PWM range to match actual output:

Hopefully you find this useful to modify the others as you need.  I've also submitted a request to update the profile to match the current (v1.4) firmware, which has many more Lamp Control options to set specific PWM values outside that variable range.
