Question for the group, I have an Ion XE, not 100% on the software version right now. But when RDM is enabled on outputs does the console ONLY ever send an RDM packet when requested by the user, or on occasion does the console send an RDM packet down the line to 'checkin' with the system every now and then?
The reason for the question:
We have a number of Elation FUZE Par Z120 IP's, and very randomly and occasionally one in the line will flash to red. Elation has mentioned that it might be an "RDM issue" in that the fixtures don't respond to RDM well (which I think is ridiculous, RDM has been part of the spec for a long time now and their fixtures should know how to properly deal with it) and that we should deactivate RDM on the outputs on the console.
I would have thought that the console only over interrupted DMX transmission with an RDM packet when requested to by the user, but maybe I'm wrong.
