delayed client console response

I know I've seen this in the past years in the forum, but haven't experienced it myself.

Ion 3.0.1

client laptop running same, with dongle, on Windows 7.

client display lags when typing channels into command line. keystrokes don't populate command line as soon as the key is pushed. Haven't determined if terminating the command lines fires the command if the displayed line isn't actually there.

1 + 2 + 3 + 21 . . . . [@ 25 enter] will command change levels to 25% if the display isn't keeping up? that I haven't tested.

solution to fixing the lag?

How are you networked? WiFi or wired? For us, we have a nomad laptop that we can roam with over a wifi VLAN, which is super helpful for focus, but sometimes up in the grid the connection isn't great and we get lag like this.

wired. Console in the booth; dedicated network line (Ion port #1) to a basic ethernet splitter (not sure if correct term is switch or router these days) in the house at the sound pit; the RFR transmitter/receiver is there, and I added the laptop to the same splitter.

Same splitter has been used previously with the RVI.
