Parameter generalization

Hi

EOS' standardization of certain parameters is a great feature! Like entering degrees for Pan and Tilt, instead of worrying about absolute (dmx) values. Thus shows can easily transition to different fixtures in different venues.

However, this concept seems a bit weakened around more complex parameters, like Gobo functions. There a lot is done via absolute values.
Unless I'm missing something?
For example: to switch the Gobo Wheel into Rotation mode requires a "Gobo Wheel Mode X" - with X being 127 for a JBL P7, 54 for Robe BMFL, 191 for Clay Paky Axcors... Yet the mode is always "rot" for rotation (as shown under ML Controls).
Is there a way to set "Gobo Wheel Mode" to "rot" without worrying about number values? It would save a lot of reprogramming time for each new venue.

p.s. With some of that stuff I'm going through OSC, which doubles the trouble.

  • Hi,

I guess this is more a general request, rather than a specific technical feature requirement.
And it is still very relevant, actually more than ever. EOS's fixture library is - and please don't take offense, I understand there are millions of fixtures out there with way too many modes - is quite a mess, a hodgepodge of naming schemes and (user-)value ranges. Asside Intensity and Pan/Tilt, pretty much nothing is standardized and as a user you keep on reprogramming your show time after time for no reason but this.

Moving a post over to another forum, is that possible to do for me? Don't see any option.
