Software update RPU/Gio@5 2.9.1 to 3.1

first of all you should check if your RPU can be updated past 2.9.2, not all of them can. simplest way is to look at the back and see if it has 2 RJ45 network connectors.

the important thing to remember is that 3.1 doesn't replace 2.9, it is a parallel install. so even if something doesn't work, you can always return to 2.9.

in the shell go to Setup>General and you will see a button that allows you to reboot the console into the other software version.

from my experience the update usually runs smoothly. and there is no Net3 update that's specfifically required. but independently from the console version i try to keep my gateways more or less up to date.
