Trigger motorized screen via ION Remote Trigger port

I would like to be able to trigger a motorized screen from our ION lighting console.  I am a bit of a lighting newbie, so forgive me if my terminology is a bit off.  Our motorized screen is a DA-Lite screen which can be triggered by a contact closure.  There are 3 wires and different combination of wires produce the 3 commands (up, down and stop).  It has been suggested to me that the Remote Trigger port on the ION may be able to trigger the screen.  I have looked at the pinout of the remote trigger port on page 279 of the ION manual and am unable to determine if the ION can perform this function or not.  Based on the pinout it appears the remote trigger port will not meet my needs.  Can anyone confirm if the ION can act as the contact closure for our screen or not.

  • The port on the back of the ion only has one output on/off on pins 9,10,11 with 11 joining to 10 or 9 depending if its on or off. (at least that's what the manual says).

    Even if that was enough for what you want which it isn't, I personally wouldn't connect to it in case it the voltages I switched damaged the ion.

    A much better bet would be pick up a dmx relay module from amazon for $20 eg very quick search gave www.amazon.com/.../B00R6DGSAK which has 3 relays separately DMX addressable, hopefully with 3 you could figure out what the combinations of 3 wires need to be and wire it in safely and if it all goes terribly wrong you've destroyed a $20 addon not a $9,000 desk :)
