Different placement of Shutter and Form physical vs soft keys?

This has been the case for a very long time.  I see references back to v2.2.0 software.  The placement on-screen was related to how they behave on Eos Classic consoles.  For consistency, they have remained the same way on-screen since then.

But since EOS Classic is no longer supported with EOS v3.x it may be changed, right?

The sidebar soft keys, on the extended encoder display, are consistent with the physical key layout sequence. 

Matt - it is curious that this was retained for legacy purposes (consistency), but the Virtual Keyboard was immediately updated upon release of the Apex consoles, even though I suspect that 98%+ of EOS users are using a legacy console. It would be greatly appreciated if we were able to have some way to toggle back to the Ion/PGW/Gio/Ti keyboard on Tab 7 (yes there is a feature request in that forum :-) Allow choice of Virtual Keyboard layout - Eos Family Feature Requests - Eos Family Consoles - ETC - Community (etcconnect.com)) without having to revert to an older version of the software.
