iRFR Out of date?

Hi Jeff,

this bug has been found and fixed, and an update to the iRFR software will be posted to Itunes

shortly this week; the update is free for customers who have already purchased iRFR in itunes.

Once you sync your iPod, it should let you know once the update is available.

I believe that there will be a new version of iRFR shortly to fix this. The problem is that iRFR is looking for a version string that says "Eos" rather than "Ion".

I've not tried it, but I believe that as a workaround you could instead have iRFR look for an Eos Client - using your PC's IP address as a Client.

Thanks for the info! I will just wait for the update to show up. Works great otherwise. I personally prefer it to the RFR for most situations.

We posted the updated iRFR app with the fix to iTunes yesterday afternoon (8/3) and are anxiously waiting for Apple to review it before we can make it available...  The update will absolutely be free :)

So, will the Color Picker and Encoder screens not show up when connected to an Element running 1.7?  only Eos or Ion?

This affects Ion as well, I'm afraid.  The Color Picker & Encoder screens will only be available when connected to a console running in Eos mode.  Unfortunately we are at the mercy of Apple to allow us to post the fix to iTunes.  We will certainly be in contact with them tomorrow if the update is still "In Review" by tomorrow morning...

ldelwich's workaround above will work in the meantime...  You can connect your iRFR to your personal computer if you launch in Eos Client mode (or Eos Offline if you just want to play around with it)

I'm sorry, I posted too quickly last time.  What I meant was, will the screens be available on the Element when the new iRFR version is approved?  Will  the Patch only add Ion, or will it affect all in the Eos/Ion/Element family?

Basically, will I be able to get color picker and encoders with Element when the patch comes out.

Absolutely, iRFR Color Picker & Encoder screens will be available when connected to any type of console in the entire Eos family, including Eos, Ion, & Element :)

I recently noticed that the update for iRFR-BTS has gone through, but not the update for iRFR-LR.  I just wanted to verify that the update has been submitted for the Lighting Relief version.  I'm anxiously awaiting it as I have an Ion and color changers I would very much like to control.  Thanks!  BTW, even without the missing Ion features this app rocks.  Can't wait to get full functionality.

Since the two are actually separate apps, we have to wait until Apple reviews & approves each update independently.  Due to random luck and a seemingly arbitrary app review process, the iRFR - BTS update was approved, but the iRFR - LR update was rejected.  The rejection was due to the proof of concept video we posted for 1st release being unavailable. (see http://community.etcconnect.com/blogs/lightminds/archive/2009/06/04/a-rejection-letter-from-apple-more-iphone-app-fun.aspx)  After a series of email exchanges explaining that the 2 apps are IDENTICAL, Apple is reviewing it a 2nd time, so I am hopeful this will all be sorted out tonight or tomorrow.  Would you beleive the app review department has no direct phone line?  Also, no comment from Apple as to why one was approved and one wasn't, hmmmmm...

Wow!  Why am I not surprised?  Unfortunately that seems typical for the app review department these days.  Thanks for the info.  I'll anxiously await a conclusion to this craziness.

Okay, it's a mere 17 days later, and Apple has approved both iRFR app updates.  You should see that a free update is avaialble through iTunes :)
