What WAP will work with ION Client Software?

Our Ion lightboard will not reliable connect to and remain connected with a laptop running the client software wirelessly.  It is stable when it is connected via a cable, so I know that the problem is not with the software.  I have discussed this with ETC and know that I need to filter out some information being sent out via the WAP.  The one that we have will not allow me to filter the information out.  It is an inexpensive WAP.  My question is for anyone who has successfully set up  their system to use the client software running wirelessly.  What brand and model of WAP are you using in your system?

  • For what it is worth I have used the Netgear WG602 V4 Wireless Access Point Bridge Repeater with a Netgear 10/100 switch (non managed)successfully. I am not sure what issues there are with filtering but I chose to go with the simplest gear possible. A switch, rather than a hub or all in one access point and an access point to give me wireless access to the network. I also had to turn on the DHCP service on my ION so it would assign the IP addresses.

As a disclaimer I don't know that this will work for everyone networking has so many variables that make it hard to claim a one size fits all solution. I wanted simple and cheap and was able to get these two items for under $100 on ebay (minimizing my risk if they did not work).

    Good luck.
