Renumbering Cues

So, I have a show whose order has just changed dramatically, and I'm looking at ways of handling it, short of jumping into and out of sequence.

Essentially, what I want is a way of taking, say, cues 11->19, and sticking them between cue 1 and 2. I know I can accomplish this manually using Move To, but I was wondering if there's a mechanism for doing this in a block.

Secondly, once I have a show with a lot of point cues, is there any simple way of renumbering the show to just use 'whole' cue numbers?

Hopefully I'm just missing something obvious...

Cheers,

Simon.

  • Hi Simon -

You might consider moving 11-19 to another cue list, moving 2-10 to 11-19, then moving 11-19 to 2.

Regarding the second question - no, there is no way to renumber to whole cues at this point-

  • Simon,

What I've done in the past is linked out to the cues you want to slip in, and then just linked back in to where you want to pick up. In your case, for starters rename cues 11 through 19 to say 511 through 519 or something above the last cue in the show. Make sure to place a block on cue 511. Put a link on cue 1 to cue 511. and place a link on cue 519 to cue 2. However you need to be careful if you have any fixtures that are marking over those cues. To be safe I would place hard values for those marks in cue 511, and cue 2.

    Make sense??

Renumbering is simple. Just use the {move to} function. It will allow you to move all of your point cues to whole numbers, provided you have the space.

Feel free to email me if you need any help.

  • The problem with linking out, as far as I can see, is that you can't track values over that section, which would have been an issue for this particular show.

Using MoveTo to go from point cues to whole numbers only works with single cues - what I was really looking for was something similar to the Strand 500 series "Renumber" command, where you can take a range of cues and renumber them using a particular increment in one operation.

In the end, I ended up using a second cue stack as a temporary store as Luke suggested. I'm living with my other point cues!

    Thanks anyway,

    Simon.
