Vivid 21 Individual Cell Conrol

As part of a recent renovation, we now have an Ion console, and a series of four Vivid 21s. As a new user to the Ion, in a few weeks this may be an obvious question, but how do I address the two cells of the Vivid 21 independently?

The Vivid 21 uses 16 DMX addresses per unit. (seven color addresses and one intensity address per cell.) I have managed to patch the fixture using the library, but from what I can see, I have independent control of the intensities, but the color is controlled for the unit as a whole. (Specifically I have inten, Inten1, Inten2, the seven colors, hue and saturation.)

I was expecting to see the Inten, Colors, Hue and Saturation for each cell as well as the whole unit.

I am sure that I am simply confused, but being new to this console, I am not sure what I am missing.

Thanks

  • The recommended approach is to patch them as two Vivid 11s on two desk channels. The Vivid 11 is the personality for a 'single cell' of any Vivid, which is particularly useful as each cell is physically addressed individually.

The 'grouped' personalities (Vivid 21, 42 etc) are currently intended as 'space savers' for when you want the whole batten in a single desk channel without readdressing, usually for ease of programming.
