Can an Ion be left on 24/7?

I recently started a new job as Technical Director at a church with an Ion console.  Current practice is to power down the console whenever it is not in use, the problem being that while the console is off our Spectra Q3 scrollers frequently scroll back and forth as if receiving phantom DMX signals.  The previous TD solved this problem by putting the scroller power supplies on parked dimmer channels, but my beginner's understanding is that dimmers should never be used for non-resistive loads like power supplies.  I'm wondering if just leaving the console on would be a better solution, but I'm not sure if this reduces the life of the console or if the stripped down Windows XP platform needs an occassional reboot to stop it from bogging down or eventually crashing like the average PC.  Or maybe someone has a suggestion for how to stop my scrollers from aimlessly meandering in the absence of DMX control, even though they're not an ETC product.
