Difficulty ajusting to the ION

Alright, I know people have put their heart and soul into designing this console so I'll be gentle.

• I want to be able to fade between colors using the Palleta 11's. But if I program them as subs and set color and intensity to separate subs and fade between them the color fade path is all over the place. Is this a paletta issue or a console color mix logarithm issue? I have been able to get separate  colors to transition better but that is limiting the fixture to only using a single color channel. I do not understand why it does not just take a direct path around the color wheel. Instead it jumps around to different hues before launching into the right hue. My guess is that is fading the hue and sat numbers along with the color numbers but this looks like crap. I need to be able to fade from fader to fader with different colors as if I was running a 120K conventional rig with multiple gels.

• This is a separate issue but it goes along with the first. I do not understand how HTP/LTP works in this console. I know what they mean and being a Hog guy I know how they work with the Hog but it is not working like I thought it should. I have color and intensity programed to multiple subs. Now in HTP if I have red up on one fader and blue is coming up on another blue will take control. But when I bring blue back down shouldn't red still be up? It just goes to black.

• I know there is no fan feature for movers. This small feature saves me tons of time. What are the plans to accommodate this need?

• I do a lot of one off's with little or no pre-programing time. So, as a result I run a lot of stuff live. For example movers in the GUI. But to keep them in the GUI is nearly impossible with the assert button being accidentally hit while bumping through various subs. If this happens I loose them and that is really annoying. Is there any way to disable the assert button?

• I understand the concept behind making the scroll wheels above the status window. But I am often grabbing parameters on the fly. But, to utilize the rotate black wheel (so your finger can rotate the wheel with ease) you have to press down. This often causes the wheel to go into it's pressed down mode due to the specific pressure needed to scroll without pressing is really annoying. Also they feel so flimsy. I am used to large aluminum beefy wheels that I can't break. I would rather have a separate button.

• There is no tactile feedback on the buttons on the console. Ie. a cup to each key to signify I am on only one key (I am often hitting two keys at the same time). Nor is there any registration bump to tell me with out looking which key is the middle.

I know you can't be everything to everyone. But these are my issues. Please enlighten my narrow field of view. I appreciate any help. I can't know everything but I want to. Thanks.

  • Morning.  Some feedback.

    1)   There are some issues with HS fades at the moment - which we are working to solve.  In the meantime, you'll probably see better color fades if you work in native space, rather than HS.  This is pretty easy to change.  If you stored the color directly to a sub, you can select your sub range, select your channel range, open the color picker and press the Color Format button.  If you've stored the subs via palettes, you do the same thing, but with your palette list instead.

    2)  NPs on subs are always LTP.  Because your last instruction was to fade the blue down, you are fading the blue down.

    3)  Fan is in 1.8 (released within a month).

    4)  There is currently no feature to disable the button above the bump button.  We haven't heard of issues where the button is triggered by mistake before (although that clearly doesn't mean it doesn't happen.  :-).  Will ponder.

    5)  Hmmm... so you are saying the encoders go into fine mode when you try to use the encoder cup?   Will investigate.

    6)  We are investigating changing the profile of the buttons.

    Hope that helps!
