EOS Littlelites and Ion Touchscreens

I have 2 questions for the group.

1. Has the dimming for the Littlelites ever been implemented. I was not able to find it but I want to check with everyone incase I am just missing it.

2. Its been stated that the ELO Touchscreens have to be connected through the DVI port on the console. Well a client of mine ordered the wrong ELO model that only had VGA. We hooked it up to the console and it works fine. They are using version 1.7 of the ION software. My question is will it keep working or is this just a fluke. What was the reason for the DVI only connection with a touchscreen?

Thank You

  • Hi Paul,

The EOS Littlelites have the ability to dim, but the feature has not yet been implemented in software.  There's talk about putting the feature in 1.9, but that hasn't been finalized yet.

The ELO touch screens are specified as DVI so they will work with the entire EOS family including ION and Element, which are DVI-D only consoles.  The EOS console has DVI-I outputs, meaning that a DVI-VGA adapter will work. - Much like your client is seeing.

    I hope this helps!

  • I should really do a better job at reading posts before replying...  I now realize you said ION touch screen...

    Here we go again:

ION consoles have 1 VGA port and 2 DVI ports. The VGA port is the mirror image as the #1 DVI port.  As I understand, your client only has 1 touch screen. And since its plugged into the VGA port, it's working fine. (Much like any other VGA monitor would.)  If the customer wanted 2 touch screens, at least one would have to be DVI.

For the sake of simplicity, we specify that touch screens should be DVI. Then there won't be any issues if a customer orders two touch screens of the same model.

Sorry for having to answer this twice. Does it make sense?

  • Kevin,

That makes perfect sense. Thank you for the quick reply. Thanks.

  • If the VGA port is mirroring DVI #1, and I have dual DVI touch screens installed, can I add a VGA LCD monotor on the VGA port for an SM sitting next to me, or 50ft away (on a VGA ext cable)  to get what's on the DVI1 screen ?.
