ION software issue?

Ok, so I posted a little bit about the moving lights issues we were having and I worked some more on it today, and here's where I am.. any help would be GREATLY appreciated, since tech support was no help at all.

1. We're positive it's a software issue and not hardware bc the self test works perfectly

2. We are running version 1.4, when I tried to update to 1.8 it brings up no installation available. I tried putting the zip drives on my USB drive and just installing them on my computer and moving the program file to the USB drive, and when I click on update software, it still says there is no installations available.

3. The major issue we're having is that when we're in the color picker we can't select a color. We'll click on any color.. say the deepest red, and it does NOTHING. The color on the moving light doesn't change, the little circle in the middle just flashes once at me, and that's it.

4. We also can't get the color wheel to come up correctly. When I'm in the menus and pick open for both color pickers, the light is green, same with when I select home for both color pickers. We cycle through the colors and they do change, but for example it will say pink and it will be a bright shade of yellow. Because the self test ran correctly we know that all the colors in the color wheel are in the right spot.

Can anyone help? Does anyone know how to calibrate the color picker?

  • To upgrade, you are supposed to expand the .zip and put the installation .exe on your USB drive, not the unexpanded .zip.

I believe the Studio Spot 575 is not a color mixing fixture -- it only has two color wheels.  The gamut of the fixture is very limited, and you have to click very close to an available color.  If there is no deep red in your color wheels, you can't click on deep red.  Someone should correct me if I'm wrong, but the color picker also won't mix from discrete colors -- it will only provide the best match for a single color slot, not both wheels together.

If you do have a color mixing Studio Spot, you have the Studio Spot CMY, which is a different profile in patch.
