EOS-ION Playback

Hello All! My name is Vasiliy, im Etc EOS user and ETC diller (Doka Media) in Russia. We realy need normal crossfade playback for russain market. Too many users that try to choose between EOS and Congo alltimes sayed that EOS is much better,  and we want that, BUT it hasn't normal playback, and finally thay bought Congo or MA lighting becourse MA has a more flexible playback. Wery long time, in Russia market  peoples work with ADB, Strand and Compulite desks. At now i think EOS and ION is the best solution for theater market, but we can sell it without normall crossfade(a/b). I think it dosn't hard to imlement that in EOS family desk (include Element).

Peoples that need crossfade, please write here about it! We need it! ^)

Sorry for my english.

Thanks for attention.

  • Vasiliy, could you please be a bit more specific about what you mean by "Normal crossfade playback?"    There are a number of components to A/B style functions that we have discussed, some which are applicable to a move fade desk and some of which aren't.  So, an explanation of your requirements would be terrific.

     Thanks much for your comments.

  • I realy want to see crossfade playback like in Congo, using pair fader(a and b) without any go button. I want that crossfade works for all of my parameters, Becourse at now  "manual override " mode use only intensity parameter and i alltimes need to press go button. And if i can choose parameters for fading it will be great.

The better way, as i think, should be creating more options for faders and buttons under. Will be great if i can select option for each fader. And for one cue list or effect can use more than 1 fader. And i want to select mode of the fader like a crossfade(for 1 fader) or crossfade for pair, next one fader for effects in a cue speed, next one fade time and assign all of that for a one cue list. If i have effect fader i want to have one more for effect speed, one more like master intensity and one more for amplitude. Its realy usefull for a life work. And will be great if i can configurate buttons below, becouse if i have many faders for one effect or cue list i have an additional buttons and  i want use that in differet mode like trig, flash, goback, off, Fix etc...

I can't understand why it can be problem in tracking sistem? becouse it really good works in grand ma 2 desks(it's tracking system too).

  • All things are possible - and A/B crossfade behavior IS impacted by the move fade nature of the desk, not necessarily the tracking behavior.  Am working with our office in Germany to draw up the requirements.  More shortly.

    Thank you.

  • Dear Anne Valentino,

I was wondering if there is any news about the A/B crossfade possibility for the playback faders of the Ion. I am still waiting for this. It seems to me that it wouldn't be a very big thing to make it optional in the set up.

    Thanks

  • Running cues without use of the Go button will be in 1.9.5.  This is an optional setting for cue lists.  A third option has been added for "fader."  So, in addition to "proportional" and "I-Master", a third mode called manual master has been added.  When this is in effect, cues are triggered by moving the fader(s) from either zero or full to the opposite end of travel.  It is still possible to use the go button for timed cues if you wish.   The action of the fader is "scaled", so that proportional timing elements are maintained....

That means (for example), if you have a cue with a 5 count on intensity, a color delay of 5 and then a color fade of five..... when you are operating in this mode, the intensity fade will be complete when the potentiometer reaches the 1/2 way point, and then the color transition will commence.

1.9.5 is currently in beta, with an anticipated release of late November.

    Hope that helps.

  • Anne,

That's awesome news.  I get this request all the time from Euro companies and have been getting that request since my C-Tran Prestige days and thru the Express line.

    Thank You.

And while you're here, was any determination ever made as whether or not the Ion fader wings would ever replicate the old Emphasis Supermaster function ?.  Make's it into a poor mans 2 scene (I know, I know...).

  • No decision on that yet Steve.  We are collecting requirements for redoing some of the fader functionality and will likely try to do changes as a package.  This particular issue was "critical."
