Mirror and offline

Hi everyone,

today i tried to connect my Ion to my laptop to try the mirror mode (in ION ofline)
and it didnt work. I got no signal from the ion at all.

when i tried it in Client mode, i got a signal, but i dont have a dongle so i guess that is why the laptop kept searching for a master...

can somebody help me (walktru)

thanks

  • Hello Mart,

If you are having trouble connecting your PC to your Eos/Ion System, I would suggest you give us a call in technical services.  There are many many factors that should be considered.  Is your Ion acting as a DHCP Server?  Is your Laptop set to receive addresses via DHCP? Are you using Static IP addresses?  Are you using wireless?  Are both Devices running the latest version of software?  XP or Vista?

Again, give us a call and we can have you up and running in a few minutes.

Am I correct in assuming that without a dongle as provided from ETC, you cannot connect as a client ?.

As RHye stated "when i tried it in Client mode, i got a signal, but i dont have a dongle so i guess that is why the laptop kept searching for a master."

    Am I missing something ?.

  • Heya,

U are correct in your statement, though it was said in the V1,8 manual supplement that it would be possible to mirror the master console without a dongle.

the laptop did recognise the ion at first, but somehow didnt establish a good connection...

i hope i am being clear, i never worked with console-networks before...

    thanks

  • You can connect a PC to an Eos/Ion/Element network without a client dongle and use it in mirror mode.  But, as Matt pointed out, there are still considerations, such as IP address, setting up the PC to receive the communication and so forth.  I believe someone has written a wiki on this, but the fastest thing to do will be to call tech support.

    Hope that helps.
