IOS (EOS?) colour mixing

Hello

I was just reading the 1.7 printed manual supplied with the IONs we have on our current show and page 118 says you cannot mix a CMY unit using RGB selections.

Why not? Strand allow me to mix CMY units using CMY, RGB, HSL and HSV , and GrandMA allow CMY RGB and HSB

  • It is currently on the list to be addressed in 2012.  Sorry, but our buckets are pretty full right now through the 2.0 development cycle.  Haven't forgotten about it though.

  • Another bump to this function request; unless I'm out of the loop and missed such an update. With the addition of LED moving profiles into our inventory; CMY editing of RGB is useful to me and designers who are just used to working there. Especially if we are mixing these into a rig with other subtractive fixtures.

  • Maybe I'm in a minority, but I actually don't think virtual color controls are a good idea.  I think knowing the features of the equipment is part of the designers job -- like knowing a wash light can't do shutter cuts.  Seeing RGB control for a CMY fixture might be misleading for a fixtures capabilities.  Hue and saturation controls already give us a unifying color adjustment scheme.

    Just my 0.02.

  • With all due respect. Cmy fixtures are capable of rgb and the other way around. For me it's really a programming speed thing. Depending on which space you are in adjusting magenta could take 2 encoder adjustments or just one. color space isn't really in line with the capability of a fixture either (for example not every cmy fixture can reach the same colors.

Obviously the HS space would still exist for those who prefer to use it.
