cue list loop programing

Paul, if you actually put a loop instruction on the last cue in the sequence, with a link back to the first cue, once the loop is read the first time, it will place the recovery cue into the pending file of the playback fader, allowing you to breakout at any time by pressing go.  

Are you wanting the cues in the sequence to autotrigger from a follow/hang time?  I hope so, cause that is the best way to do that.

So, let's assume your sequence is cues 1 through 10, cue 11 is your "big finish."  Cues 1 through 10 follow x enter.  Cue 10, link 1 loop n enter - where 'n" equals the number of times you want the loop instruction to be read.  If you want the sequence to run twice, you put a loop of 1.  If you don't know how long you want the loop to run, you put a loop of 0.  This means "run until I press go." 

Once the loop is read the first time you get to cue 10, you'll see cue 11 in pending.

I'm not sure I follow (no pun intended)  your follow/hang instruction. .

I think she wants the first cue of the sequence to run and then the next (lets say) 10 cues to run on their own and then go back tot he beginning (lather rinse repeat)  until the big finish. . would we use follow/hang to do that?

and to make matters worse she may want to do that with just the strip lights. . is that separate cue list? how would I do that?

If the sequence is just going to be affecting your striplights, I'd think the easiest solution would just be to write a step-based effect. Fire it off your next-to-last cue, and then your GO press will bring you to your big finish, which can just be a normal cue.

You have a couple of options.  You could either write a step based effect, and then put the stop flag - or command the lights to a specific intensity value  for the effect to stop - in your big finish as John has suggested.

Or you could put your striplight sequences into a separate cue list, and then on your big finish cue in the main cue list, command the lights to the value that you want.

Does ANY of this make sense?  If not, perhaps if you could tell us exactly what part of the rig you are trying to use, and what you want the rest of the stage to be doing, we can expand..... :-)
