EOS Dongle

We have had our console for a couple years now but just got around to setting up a network to access the system from a notebook.  When I asked my dealer about getting a dongle he informed me that we simply had to register our console with ETC.  I registered via My ETC today.  Do I have to contact customer service or will they ship a dongle automatically now that I have registered?

  • Mark,

Your dongle should ship to you automatically. If you don't see it in the next couple of weeks by all means give customer services a call, but I'm sure it's on it's way though the system as we speak. In the meantime you can use your notebook in mirror mode without a dongle to check your system is working.

  • For everyone to also be aware of - this Offer for a Free Dongle to be sent to operators who register their console - this is a Limited Time Offer, which is currently still running.

After this offer runs out (a date has not been set yet) dongles would need to be purchased from ETC (see your dealer for prices).
Or if you need multiple dongles, or replacement dongles, this would also need to be purchased.

Have fun with your dongle and the client software when it arrives!

  • Hi there,

I asked my local dealer (lightco-Holland) about the dongle, they told me it was a north-america offer only.

can someone fill me in on this?

    thanks

    Mart

  • This is a global offer.  Can you check with ETC UK?

    Thanks much!

    Thank u very much

    Anne, i was wondering:

what are your thoughts on putting extra functionality on the fader wings.   for example: when i press macro, macro 1 tru 20 appear on the wing...
    same with palletes and effects.

is this do-able? or is it not on your (wish)list at all

    Greetings

    Mart

  • Hey Mart.  Doable, very much so.  We have a pretty long list of wish list items at the moment that we are working through, as well as new features that have been on the boards for awhile.  Once we get through those, we will be taking a look at the faders and their associated controls to provide a variety of different options for control.

No time line at this point, but on the list.

    :-)

  • Heya,

good to know!  what are the biggest changes in v1,9 and 2,0?
    or is that  a secret?

I gave ETC London a call and they're on it.
    thanks for your time.

    Have a nice weekend!

    greetings

    Mart

  • Mart, well, since 1.9 is in final beta test...

Fairly significant changes to the update function, including:

Redesign of content in the Update Dialogue Box

Deselection of update targets via the update dialogue box

Break Nested and Update Last Ref as modifiers to three basic update methods of All, Make Absolute or Reference Only.

User setup option to define your preferred update method, including your preferred modifiers (rather than the CIA remembering your last choice)

The ability to update manual overrides to manual references without specifying the target.

By Type Palettes, with the ability to define discrete parameter data for an individual channel.

Locked Palettes, which won't be modified by a generic update (a targeted update where the specific channels and the target is required.  Useful when putting palettes into presets, so the palettes won't be updated by mistake).

Absolute Palettes, which automatically breaks the link to the palette upon recall.  This will be useful for designers looking for the equivalent to the legacy product's [Group] [1] [at] [Full].

Mac Native as a client.  (Woo Hoo!)

Multiple Intensity effects on a single channel.

Tabs in Ion - so what was your "swap" key becomes a "tab" key.

    Query and Snapshots in Ion.

Eos only - it is now possible to open more than one instance of the Playback Status Display.

Split screen display (channels on top/PSD on bottom) for single monitor installs or RPUs/RVIs with single monitors attached.

In table view, the intensity column is now sticky on the left side.

Use of the page buttons to navigate the PSD.

New column in the PSD, wherein an "L" indicates any light fading from zero to an active level that also has NPs moving or a "D" indicates any light with NP moves while the light is inactive and a + indicates both.

Modification of timing values using + and -, including in a range, where the timing has been fanned.

Ion - the 1-to-1 sub mapping is being removed.  Instead, when the page button is pressed, the last button on your available fader wings toggles to channel mode.

Fader wings page in increments of 10, to match the fader configuration tool.

LTP channel levels (from faders) can be cleared without asserting control by holding down Sneak.

The scroll lock key is no longer needed to engage hotkeys on the client/offline.  That is the default state.

Content of NPs on I-Master subs can be released by pressing the bump button again.  The LED pulses when the lights are in a marked state.

    Remote Device Start up/Shut Down

Remote software install on all connected ETC processors.

    That's 1.9.  The rest is a mystery!

    :-)

  • Well,

    Can't wait for 1,9 now.

    thanks for your time, Anne.
    and have a good weekend.

  • Oh wait... two more long requested things...

Attaching fan speed curve to scroller intensity.

indication in patch/fixture list of any fixtures with updated profiles since the show was created.  So, you'll know which fixtures have changed, allowing you to make the decision about updating the library!!

Thanks much!  Good weekend to you as well..... wait, you are well into Friday night.  Go enjoy!
