can a macro disable and enable a Net3 node?

My venue has a Unique 2.1 hazer, and for it to go into its manufacturer recommended self clean mode, it has to be done at the hazer itself, or it has to lose dmx signal.  Simply unpatching it didnt work.  I've been told disconnecting the dmx line does, and on a different  system (MA) I've been told that a macro can be written to turn off dmx to the node, then another macro to turn on dmx when you want to use the hazer again.  Is it possible to write macros on an ETC board to disable then enable dmx to the node that controls this particular hazer?  I see in the Gateway Configurator that a node can be disabled then re-enabled, but being able to do so from the console would be far more convenient.  Not a big deal really, just curious, especially as my hazer is 4 staircases up!

  • no, you don't have direct access to the gateways from within the Eos software.

you can try (this is theory, didn't test if it actually works) if unpatching works if the hazer is the only thing on that universe. as soon as you unpatched the last channel from an universe there is nothing to send anymore and the gateway *might* stop sending DMX. i guess it's worth a try Slight smile

  • ooooo - hadn't thought of that!  Once I get a bit of maintenance time I might give that a try just to see, but sadly I don't have a spare universe the hazer can rule by itself as a permanent solution.  Thx for the suggestion though!  No doubt a few extra stairs are actually good for me.

  • If the DMX switch if closer by you could disconnect it there.
But is is a little bit more risky, because of not beeing to obvious.

The Stairs are always a good way. That way you could check again for Fluid and stuff.

  • the way i understood your question was that the the hazer has a direct DMX line to the gateway and that nothing else shares that DMX ort with the hazer. if that's the case it should be simple enough to get the hazer on it's own universe just by changing which universe that DMX port should output (and then of course also changing the patch to reflect the new universe for the hazer).

  • Stairs being good to check for fluid and stuff is very true, and there is nothing physically close to me to disconnect.  At the moment, universe 1, 2 and 3 are all well used by house patch.  The hazer is on its own dmx line from a Net3 node in universe 2.  I do have universe 4 open, so for the moment could try putting the hazer there, but when larger shows come in universe 4 will be used, then I'm back to the hazer not being in its own universe.  I will try it that out, as well as disabling the port through Gateway Configurator, just to see if either works, but likely my current stair solution is the best one for now.  Appreciate the replies!
