Slightly odd thing happening in current versions when editing absolute effects.
If you're in the effects editing screen and use the right arrow to go to the level column, you can then amend values as expected.
BUT if you're not paying attention and press right one to many times (ie. you go right into the level column then press right again) it appears that you still have that column selected - ie. it still has the orange highlight box in it - but in fact the command line has terminated, so now if you try to enter a value random things happen - if you type a number you're trying to select that action on the command line, if you press a direct select you're dumped out of the effects editor.
Has been driving me a bit crazy this week when working on lots of effects quickly.
