ION with Wybron CXI IT, PLEASE HELP!

Upon  plugging CXIs into universe 2 on ion and patching them as Wybron CXI Mix (note these are set up without mix speed or move speed) they do not respond to board fade times. We then tried patching them and setting them up with move speed and this also did not fix the problem with the scrollers. Upon further troubleshooting the only way to get the scrollers to respond to the fade times in the board is to set the scrollers as generic dimmers with one part per channel, meaning our 15 scrollers take up 45 channels (counting intensity, of course). Hoeever this made us lose all of our color mixing info, which at this point is completely unacceptable. This does not qualify as an emergency so I refrained from calling the emergency line, but this does need to be fixed by 6pm on Monday. Also we are running ion software 1.8.2 having just updated from  whatever the most recent ion beta software was. Thanks, PJ

    Hi PJ,

    Can you describe a little more what they are doing when you take a cue? Are they moving in a zero time? Do they jump around as Josh described? Do they just seem to have a mind of their own?  Are they always moving in the same amount of time regardless of the distance that the gel needs to travel?

    Just to confirm... the units are responding properly during programming; touch blue on the color wheel, and they go blue, send them home, they go clear. etc? Its only playback that is the issue?

    The scrollers move as follows:  they do not move at a zero time, but rather they start off as if as if they are going to follow the board time, but then stop, completely, usually on clear, before realizing "O Crap we are not supposed to be here" and moving at a zero time to wherever they were supposed to go.

    Yes, you did assume correctly, the only problem is playback with cue times longer than 5 seconds, otherwise the fades appear to be completely normal.

    PJ,

     

    To quickly change the Colour Format you can pop open the colour picker and use the 'Color Format' toggle button.

    If you have all of your colours in palettes, go into your Blind Palette view, select all your CXi palettes with 'CP x thru y Enter', hit the 'edit' softkey, select the relevant channels then hit the 'Colour Format' button.

    If you haven't used palettes, but just have absolute data in your cues use the same process but in Cue Blind.

    I noticed this with my cxi's on my last show as well. I will try changing the color format when I get a chance and see if that fixes it.

    I only did a quick test as I had to strike my cxi's, but this seemed to fix the issue.
