Ion RFR Issues

I turn on my RFR and it shows in the window "ETC RFR Remote 2.00"  "Connecting to USB" and stays that way.  Any button I push (or thumb wheels) nothing changes.  I've double and triple-checked my settings on both the handheld and console and still no change.  There's gotta be something in the process I'm missing but so far nothing's worked.  Any help or ideas?

  • Hi Mike,

    Has your RFR worked before?
Are you connecting the base via USB or Ethernet?

What firmware does the Base have?

what happens when you press the "." button when turning on the handheld? Does the name of your console or "base usb"

pop up on a list? if so, pick one of these.

    Yes

    USB

    2.0

After I posted I went out to the room and started dinking around again and got it to work.  Whether or not I remember what I did exactly tomorrow is another story…  Thanks.

  • The problem you had was that you'd accidentally set the RFR to try to connect to the console using the small USB connector on the top (Direct USB), instead of via the radio.

    To change that:

    • First ensure the RFR base station is connected and powered, and that your console is running and has a show loaded.
    • On the handset, hold down the [.] key while turning it on.
    • You will see a menu with the following items:
      • Direct USB
      • Searching for base...
      • Searching for base...
    • After a few moments, you'll either see "Base USB" or the name of your console appear in the list.
    • Pick the right console or "Base USB"
      • "Base USB" means that the base station is connected to the console via USB.
      • Otherwise you get a list of running consoles on the network.

If the list never changes, check your radio settings as the base and handset are probably set to different Frequency and/or Groups.
