High school just got an Ion XE 20 whats different when comparing it to the classic Ion?

Hi all,

Our new Ion XE 20 showed up on Monday, planning to set it up on Tuesday.

Is there a certain startup process for freshly unboxed consoles?

Is anything operations-wise different from a classic Ion?

I did notice in a few videos that the console has red, green, and white backlight emitters, can we change up the colors at all? Would be nice to have the GO button backlit in green and the stop button in red.

Are there any helpful tips and tricks any of you would like to share?

Thanks!

  • Operations-wise the only major differences are that you won't have the built in LCD like the Ion Classic, you won't have physical soft-keys, the keypad layout is updated to be the same as every console except Apex, the way encoders work is updated in a way that you look at monitor above the encoders (this screen can be expanded by pressing the [Encoder Display] button), and you won't have a dedicated grandmaster and blackout button (but you can set one of the faders and its corresponding bump buttons do accomplish this).
