I would locate the merge on the master Gateway.

What is the structur in your location? And how do you talk to your fixtures?
Is there a network set up with sACN in use or do you run straight XLR-DMX-lines?

We have a setup of an RPU working in a network with a good amount of different DMX and SowControl gateways (all ETC). The Macula/Mac Ultra controller we try to merge in is connected via sACN to the ETC network and DMX controll for the lighting fixture.
