Best way to....

Hey all I am going into my tech for a production of Rent and I would like to create an effect I saw and was wondering what the best way to do it was.

So I have 15 Source fours all firing strait down and I want to fade them out two at a time to collapse the row of light down to the soloist at center...

Should I do this with a part cue, a series of follow cues, or just set a delay on each of the ch so that they cascade inward?

Or is there a better/slicker way to create this effect?

Thanks for the help!

  • Hey

The way that I would acheive that would be to make an effect, with the steps of each pair of source 4's going off, with the last step left with the remaining source 4 turned ON. Once I've made the effect (with the right timings etc) I would then change the Cycle/Duration from "infinate" to "cycle 1". This would make the effect run through once and then stop on the last step. When that is all done, simpily add the effect onto an "external link" on your cue, and your done!

I'm not sure what desk your using, but I've just tested this on an Ion, and it works fine.

Hope this helps! Let me know if not! (:

  • I would do it like this:

If you're in the Q where they are going out and youre S4 are 1 thru 15 and you want it all to happen in 4 sek:

    chan 1 thru 7 delay 0 thru 3 fan cluster 2 enter

    chan 15 thru 9 delay 0 thru 3 fan cluster 2 enter

    chan 8 delay 4 enter

    update enter

    (back - go)
