It's not completely impossible but it depends on which aspect of Element you want to control, what flavor of MIDI the controller sends and if you want feedback. Can you describe with a bit more detail what the idea is?
Thank you.
I'd like to use something like a midi fighter twister zu get knobs to controll some moving lights on an elements 2 - so basicly fixture controlls that would benefit from an encoder
thx for answering
If you're looking for Midi to control cue, sub or macro you can achieve that without external software. For faders to be controlled linearly through Midi they would need to send Midi Notes.
If you're looking at the Twister device, you^'ll need a companion software. This thread might help you: TwisterEos | Control Eos ETCNomad with the MIDI Fighter Twister controller
If you're looking for something that works on the console without additional software, the lighthack DIY project might be the right thing for you: https://github.com/ETCLabs/lighthack
Thx for the answer, i know about the Software fit Twister and IT works great in nomad, i was Just wondering If i can get that to work directly in the element 2 by accsessing the os, installing the Software and pluging the Midi Controller in a USB port
We neither recommend nor support installing 3rd party software on Eos Family consoles.

So is there an other way?
Since Midi input (except MTC and MSC which are irrelevant for your application) needs to be routed through the Show Control tab which only allows Cues, Sub or Macro as action, you will not be able to have a device directly send Midi to Eos and map this to encoder movement.
I understand, thanks for explaining. It works quiet well on a PC enviroment and also as client for the console, i was just hoping there was a way other then using another computer. But of course the mapping software of the controller nedds to be installed for it to work, i think converting it so OSC and if thats not possible on the console then ya, thx anyway
