Show Files using Generic Fixtures updated to Intelligent Fixtures

Hi
I am looking at updating show files designed using generic fixture, touring into venues that have been given LED upgrades.

Generally when doing this looking at changing the fixture profile from generic to an intelligent fixture, and giving the light colour or position information that will stay the same throughout the show.

I am trying to avoid the park method as I like the idea of being able to edit without un parking if I needed too!

Does anyone have any ideas of simplest methods for this? I was looking at home presets.

  • You could indeed do this with the home preset, however using the home value in the cues would result in non-referenced data which would be harder to edit. The other way of working the home values would be to now have any data in the cues hence allowing the home value (which might come from the home preset) to present.

The other method you could think about is using an actual preset for this. Put all the fancy new parameters of your previously generic channels into one preset, call it "stay put" and have all your newly intelligent channels reference this one preset.

    Does that help?
