You could indeed do this with the home preset, however using the home value in the cues would result in non-referenced data which would be harder to edit. The other way of working the home values would be to now have any data in the cues hence allowing the home value (which might come from the home preset) to present.

The other method you could think about is using an actual preset for this. Put all the fancy new parameters of your previously generic channels into one preset, call it "stay put" and have all your newly intelligent channels reference this one preset.

Yes, I think so. If I have understood correct, using the home preset would be fine. As long as didn't then record the absolute data into the cue list?

Either have no values (which allows the home values to be used as background values) or use references (presets or palettes). I think form an editing point of view it would be beneficial to have references as the used parameter values would be more easily visible.
