CMY question

The lamps in question are VL1000 TIDs, the cue in question is a live fade from a colourpicked pale Lee amber to a colour picked pale Lee blue.  At the moment, they go through a very green stage during the fade, and the designer wants to minimize that.  What is the best way to do this?  Is it possible to play with the colour mix in a part cue, or do discrete timing on one of the colour values, or do I have to do a follow where it goes from amber to almost white and then to the blue?  Looking through some past posts, I see that because I've used the colour picker the CMY values are greyed out and the HS values are the ones that are changing in this cue.  I tried to do a part cue where part 2 delayed the cyan, but as this value was grey, of course nothing happened.  Anyone have any suggestions / experiences?  All is, as always, appreciated!

  • Hi Heather

Yes you worked out the problem is that the colour picker uses HS values and not CMY. The way to fix this is to use the color format tile in the colour picker, if you have your colours stored in colour palettes you can do this in Blind Colour Palettes, just go to the colours in question, select your channels and with the color picker open hit the color format tile/button and you should now see the CMY values are blue and the HS are greyed out.

If this data isn't stored colour palettes you can just use the colour format tile in the cues in question, this can be done in Live and you will just need to update the cue afterwards or you can do this in blind.

    Hope this help.

  •   This helps alot!  In cuing over the past few days, I've found if there is a nasty colour shift, selecting the affected channels in the cue you are going into and changing how they are recording the colour with colour format solves the problem.  This has saved lots of time and aggro - thankyou!
