I've seen this before and maybe reported it a long time ago, but i can still see it.
sometimes when editing the pattern of a linear effect, specifically selecting and then moving a point, the effect can go all crazy. i don't know what exactly triggers it, maybe it's about points that are close together (on the x-axis). not sure but i think i mostly see it when using one of the two randomly generated patterns (the last two in the {Pattern} selection.
