Direct Select grid layout

Question

Afternoon all, 
 How do I prevent the Direct Select grids from resetting? 
 If I want to keep, say 8 x 16 tiles & return to this each time we fire up the console. I have tried locking the frame etc. 
 Is the layout not saved with the showfile?

No screen layout, tab position or tab display settings is saved with the showfile. Only when recorded into a snapshot do these information get saved in the showfile. 
 I would say it's best practice saving a snapshot with your "default" view to make it easier recallable.
